Can the Lunar Lights be left on all the time?

Yes, the Lunar lights can be left on 24 hours per day or placed on a timer.

Can the Satellite be installed in a canopy?

We do not advise the use of the Satellites for canopy installations. Although there are cooling fans installed in the Satellites, canopies are too restrictive and may cause premature ballast and lamp failure. For canopy installations we recommend our SunPaq Retrofits.

Can the Satellites be used on freshwater plant aquariums?

Yes, in fact the Satellites can help create beautiful freshwater planted aquaria.  Many people who use the Satellite for plants swap the actinic  or SmartPaq lamp(s) out for another daylight lamp.

Do you have taller docking mounts available for the Satellites?

At this time we only have the docking mounts that come with the fixture.  Raising the fixture can make the fixture unstable.

Does the fan need to run while the lamps are in operation?

The fan that comes with the Dual Satellite fixtures has its own power supply and should be operational when either 1 or both sets of lamps are on-for dawn/dusk timers we recommend the fan to come on when the actinics are activated and to turn off when the actinics are turned off.

How long will SunPaq lamps last?

SunPaq lamps have a useful life expectancy of 9-12 months depending on the  hours of operation and operating temperature. These factors may vary from application to application, but a good rule of thumb is replacing every 10 months, resulting in consistent spectral quality and lumen output.

What is the warranty on Satellite fixtures?

The Satellite fixture has a 1 year warranty and the lamps have a 3 month warranty.

What type of corals can be raised using Satellite fixtures?

The Satellite and Dual Satellite fixtures will support nearly all types of corals and anemones. When turning on the blue lamp, one side does not seem to work. Is this normal?

Current-USA was the first to develop dual phosphor technology in compact fluorescent lamps.  This allows one side of the lamp to emit a Super Actinic wavelength of 460nm, while the other side of the lamp emits Actinic 03 420nm. The 460nm side will appear much brighter than the 420nm side, however the 420nm has a longer wavelength and will actually penetrate deeper into the water and coral tissue, creating a fluorescing effect.

When turning on the Daylight lamp, one side does not seem to work. Is this normal?

Current-USA was the first to develop dual phosphor technology in compact fluorescent lamps.  This allows one side of the lamp to emit a 10,000k daylight spectrum while the other side of the lamp emits a 6700k daylight spectrum. The 10,000k side will appear brighter or crisper than the 6700k side, as the 6700k side is designed to simulate a shallow water reef  where brown and red colors are accentuated.
